Joggers on tour Liverpool
Mike Anstey,Lynda Broadway,Arthur Lockyear,Kareen Mann,Viv Tolley,Wally,Andy Cambell,Marc Bingham,Andy Milton,Glynn Davies,Elizabeth Lawrence fielding,Paul and Jude Newman,Roodie,Megz,Nathan Cooper,Andy Banham and Neil Humpage travelled up to Liverpool (The best city in the world according to Arthur ) on Friday evening where we all enjoyed an evening meal prepared for us by Jane the chef in the TA centre followed by a night of revelry in downtown centre arriving home when the birds were singing and the sun was rising around 5.30am we realised at this point that the planned park run wasn't going to happen.
After a few hours sleep we all got up around 10am to a full English breakfast prepared by our lovely chef Jane then of to see the sights and hear the sounds of Liverpool.
Race day started with breakfast of cereals and porridge at 7am then of to the race we went in convoy we managed to park 5 minutes walk from the race start where we joined another 8500 race participants on a very cold and windy morning the race started at 9am on the dockside outside the famous Liver building it took some of us about 10mins to cross the start line this didn't matter as it was a well organised chipped event the race began with a steady uphill climb through the town to the beautiful daffodil filled Sefton and otterspool parks where we ran several miles through the trees past the big glassed palm house building the forecast rain held of until just before we left the parks and wasn't as long lived or heavy as forecast around mile 6 Mike and Lynda met Colin from Worcester who commented on there St Richards vests and said what a good cause they were running for we told him he could sponsor Lynda at justgiving.comlynda-broadway (after the race Colin and his mate Rob had generously donated £40) Arthur ran in fancy dress as Jesus running for The Brain Tumour Charity justgiving.com/arthur26. After leaving the parks we headed back down to the waterfront and the Mersey on the way we had a few out breaks of much welcome sun shine. At 91/2 miles we hit the waterfront and were confronted by a strong blustery head wind for the last 31/2 miles all the way along the waterfront. We finished back where we started outside the Liver building where we collected a lovely medal a long sleeve technical T-shirt and other edible goodies.
Congratulations to all runners excellent times achieved by all lead in by Andy Milton (who organised the accomodation and chef for us all ) followed by Megz First Lady malvern jogger home running for the lily foundationjustgiving.co.uk/megz-judge well done yo any other Malvern joggers who participated in this highly reccomended event.
